The clear meaning of corrigendum is alteration done in the original. In terms of tenders we can understand this by saying that a company who had floated a tender now wants to do some changes in some or whole part of the tender. For doing this a corrigendum is issued.
Say for example, a company or department has issued a tender for a particular work or service with all the technical and financial details. All the important dates and deadlines have being mentioned in it. Now due to some or the other reason, if the company feels like extending the due date or any other date, they can do so. They need to republish the tender with the necessary amendments and this is called as corrigendum.
Corrigendum can only be issued before the due date & time of tender submission expires. Against a Tender, any number of corrigenda can be issued.
